How to Improve Your Golf Swing - The Alpha SaSaphire Method

How to Improve Your Golf Swing - The Alpha SaSaphire MethodYou are not alone if you have felt a nagging desire to improve your golf swing but you have no idea how to approach this. For the past 10 years or so I have been teaching others to improve their swing and this has been a constant challenge. This is because there are many different approaches to teaching golf and each of them seems to work for the majority of people. Most people seem to have a specific approach to teaching their golf swing and this is the Alpha SaSaphire approach. This seems to be very successful for most golfers. This seems to work because it involves several techniques that are easy to apply and understand. You also will get consistent results, which is a great thing. In order to learn this approach you will need a few basic tools such as a ball, a golf club, two balls (the opposite hands) and a putter. The first step in this process is to select the proper club when you first begin your game. Make sure you pr actice this with a ball so that you can get the feel for it. The next step is to choose a target. These days most people use a stop or release marker at the top of the ball when they are on the backswing. This is the perfect place to add the club to your hands to put it in position for a good swing. It is also important to remember to have a good grip on the club. You should have enough grip strength to make a good solid connection between your thumb and forefinger. The next step is to move the ball from your face to your target line and aim it to the left of your target. This is a critical step and if you do not have the right ability to get the ball in the right place, you will not get the correct result. It is important to think of your swing as a clock that has the beginning part to go forward and the end part to move to the left. One very important golf tip is to stop the golf club squarely in front of your target. When this happens the arms turn to the left and your arms to reach the top of your head. This is the key step in the Alpha SaSaphire position. In the last part of your swing the golfer should have his feet apart and swing the golf club back to the correct position and then take it to the left side of the ball. This is how to improve your golf swing through the Alpha SaSaphire practice technique. It may seem like a lot of steps but after you have done this a few times you will find it easier to do. The first thing you will need to do is to play a round or two of golf in an easy to play competition. This will help you become used to using this practice technique.

The Design Secrets Behind Stand-Out Resumes

The Design Secrets Behind Stand-Out Resumes Anatomy of a Winning Resume, courtesy of Mashable.com According the  TheLadders  study, researchers also found, through methods involving eye-tracking and gaze-tracking techniques, that employers spent roughly 80 percent of their gaze time on the following sections: Name Current title/company Previous title/company Previous position start and end dates Current position start and end dates Education The study included that beyond these points, employers merely scanned for keywords relating to the position being applied for. This is why the organization and layout of your resume is of the utmost importance. As we can gather from the points above, employers search foremost for your previous experience in their industry, so you should be sure to put this at the head of your resume referred to as reverse chronological order beneath your name and contact information. You may be wondering about the overview section, commonly seen as the descriptive paragraph listed before anything else on your resume. Many are now considering the overview optional due to the fact that some experts believe employers rarely take the time to read it and that it takes up valuable space. Those in favor of ditching it say to replace it with an executive summary, which is essentially the 30-second elevator pitch on paper. Its typically three to five sentences long and states who you are and what youre looking for, therefore saving your potential employer time and saving you space another important element of design. Stephen Provenzano, author of Top Secret Executive Resumes,  mentioned in his book the importance of incorporating white space throughout the resume, writing white space gives readers a break and helps them quickly scan the page for key points. I usually indent (tab) after each bullet, he wrote. This use of bullets draws the readers eye in and gives your resume an organized feel, similar to a list. However, be sure to break up bullet points with summaries of your experiences, so the entire resume doesnt just read like a long list. Font and size As you can see throughout this article, Ive listed titles in bold and italicized important points, creating clear distinctions as to where my writing is guiding you; the same methods should be applied to your resume. Provenzano again gives us clear instructions for using these elements: Use frills such as boldfacing, underlining, italics, bullets or dashes for emphasis, but not on every line. They quickly lose their impact when overused. They should be used only to make major points stand out or to set items apart and break up type. Avoid using all the elements boldfacing, underlining and italics on the same line of type. Choose a combination of any two. Along with this, knowing the impact of certain typefaces and fonts and how to combine them to create an aesthetically pleasing resume is essential. Adam Dachis, in A Non-Designers Guide to Typefaces and Layout, explains that the majority of resume writers will most likely only be making a decision between serif or sans-serif fonts. Photo by williamcromar via Flickr. As pictured above, serif fonts contain tiny flourishes on the ends of letters, and as Dachis wrote, resemble the look of a typewriter. Serif is easy to read and is often viewed as proper, conservative and traditional. Sans-serif, literally meaning without serif, lacks the letter flourishes and is considered a modern, minimalistic typeface which is, in essence, aesthetically appealing. Keep these styles in mind and compare them to the style of the company youre applying to for example, most newspapers go the conservative route and print in a serif typeface, while more modern design firms (or if youre applying as a graphic designer) can utilize a modern sans-serif alternative. Purdue Owls Online Writing Lab also reminds us that, like the use of boldfacing and italicizing, we should be careful with how we use typefaces. The key to using fonts in your résumé is to be consistent, the site stated.  For example, if you decide to use a sans-serif font for a main heading, do so for all your headings, and use the same sans-serif font each time generally, you should use no more than two fonts in your résumé.   Color The use of color in resumes largely depends on the company and type of position youre applying for. Design positions typically allow for unlimited creative freedom regarding resumes, which includes a well-designed color scheme. However, if your resume is in a field not involving advertising, design or anything art related, the recommendation is to always stick with a black-and-white color scheme. This doesnt mean your entire resume has to be one bland shade of black, however; with the use of boldfacing and gray hues, you can still highlight noteworthy areas without painting them in color. Consistency Amanda Augustine, career expert at TheLadders,  recommended in an article for Business Insider, to keep your resume consistent with your online identity and to always put a link to your online profile with your contact information. Along with this, she suggested that if you have a common name, consider including your middle initial on your resume and online professional profiles to differentiate yourself from the competition. For example, decide if youre Mike Johnson, Michael Johnson, or Mike E. Johnson, she said. Then use this name consistently, be it on LinkedIn, Google+, Twitter, or Facebook. Structuring your resume in a visually appealing, easy-to-read format with differing font styles may not seem like a big deal, but its a commonly overlooked aspect of the job search. Think of it this way: during those six seconds of fame we spoke about earlier, do you want to be seen by your employer in a t-shirt and torn jeans or in a custom-tailored suit with a pair of eye-catching cufflinks?

How to Belt Without Straining Your Voice

How to Belt Without Straining Your Voice Sign up successful The different vocal qualities of head and chest voice are due to a physical change. There are two sets of muscles that control the vocal cords: the thyroarytenoid muscles and the cricothyroid muscles. The thyroarytenoid muscles shorten the vocal cords, causing chest voice. The cricothyroid muscles lengthen the vocal cords, causing head voice. Belting occurs when a singer sings higher pitches using chest voice rather than switching to head voice. This results in a louder, more powerful sound than most people can achieve in low head voice. When done wrong, it just sounds like yelling (yelling is a chest voice function). How to Belt Now that you know what belting is, you probably want to know how to belt without straining your voice. First, check out this helpful tutorial, then read on for some more tips and tricks! Mixing It Up Trained belters (and some über-talented people) don’t force their thyroarytenoid function past where it is comfortable. Instead, they use their cricothyroids and thyroarytenoids together to create a sound that is part belting, part not. This sound has the same power and sound as belting, but lacks the physical strain and danger of cracking. Because it is a mix of head and chest voice, it is simply called a mix. Mixing is the reason why Broadway stars can “belt” extremely high every night without losing their voices. It is the reason why some singers, trained or not, seem to be able to belt without hurting themselves. But mixing is a fairly advanced vocal technique, and to really learn how to do it, you need to study with a voice teacher. If your dream is to sing Let it Go or Defying Gravity, you need to learn how to mix. There are very few people on earth who can actually belt those songs without causing serious vocal trauma. True Belting In general, pieces that stay under a C5 are fair game for some (but not all) women to belt without straining. Some men can belt up to G4 or even higher without mixing as well. But where some singers can comfortably belt sans mix, other people will be straining and cracking. Part of this is just because every voice is different. Your natural belting capacity may also get higher if you seek vocal training. There is no hard-and-fast rule about how high you can belt without hurting yourself. If you want to learn how to belt without straining your voice â€" and aren’t quite ready to learn how to mix â€" pick a song you can sing comfortably in chest voice right now. If you sound like you are screeching, don’t do it. If it hurts, don’t do it. You can also choose to do a song in a lower key if the original key is too high. Belt It Out Put succinctly, yes, it is possible to learn how to belt without straining your voice. But your favorite belters probably aren’t belting at all â€" they are using a combination of head and chest voice to achieve a healthy but powerful sound. So my advice to you is simple: stick to comfortable repertoire, or find a good voice teacher to help you develop your mix. Your voice (and your neighbors!) will thank you. How To Prepare For College Now

How To Prepare For College Now College is coming. Its coming sooner for some and later for others. But, its still coming for most, and its never too soon to prepare. Winter time is always a stressful time for high school seniors, lobbying for certain colleges, awaiting acceptance or rejection letters. Some of them may even look back to their freshmen years of high school or even earlier, thinking I should have taken a harder curriculum, more extra-curricular activities or even gotten an A in that Algebra class. Once youre a high school senior or when youre the parent of high school senior its too late to change what happened freshman year or even back when you were 12 years old. So, it could be wise to start preparing for college before high school starts. The Washington Post took insights and advice from several college admissions experts and education administrators. It then published tips for how middle school students can begin the college preparation process, seven pieces of advice that a 12 year-old can handle. 1. Pay attention to your 12 year-old's interests: Try to find a constructive hobby that interests your son or daughter and encourage him/her to pursue it. Encourage singing, sports, cooking, building stuff, etc. Encouraging your middle school student to get involved in something that he/she is truly interested in could help him/her build extra-curricular involvement while in high school, improving the college entrance application. 2. Try not to stress your child out too much: Middle school students all handle stress differently and are receptive to different messages. Try not to pile stress on your children by having them do absolutely everything and anything available. But, other students need to be pushed into activities a little more than others. 3. Have them take high-school level courses: Push your kids into Algebra I or even Geometry classes before high school starts. Some high schools will even let these classes while still taken in middle school count for high school grade-point averages. Chances are the same class will be easier when its taken in eighth grade as opposed to freshman or sophomore year of high school. 4. Give them self-responsibility: Simple chores or personal responsibility can help make your children self-motivated. This could help them achieve throughout high school because its what they want to do and because they think its important, rather than because you are harping on them. 5. Expose them to colleges: Open up a conversation about college. For students who are interested in sports, have them watch college sports. Also, you could take day trips to college campuses, or stop at some on family vacations. This could help get your students interested in college education early on. 6. Promote foreign languages: Colleges are becoming more internationally diverse. Simply encouraging your student to take a foreign language in school or at home with CDs could help them become more culturally diverse. 50 years ago, Yale University had one international student for every 50 students; today it has 1 in every 11. 7. Encourage reading: Have your middle school student read anything and everything, whether its magazines, science fiction novels, blogs, journals, etc. Try to create genuine interest for your children where they actually want to read instead of just for school. Studies consistently indicate that students who read a lot outperform those who do not.
